We put our heads together...

...Yuri and I. We discussed, we mused, we got off topic and talked about TV shows and the Magic Castle, then remembered that we had a decision to make and after some hearty teeth gnashing we decided on 5 finalists.

I should explain that we felt that the finalists had to meet certain criteria. They had to be something that you could pronounce easily when calling the giant bee inside for dinner -- and had to have many layers (as many of you argued quite eloquently in your submissions) but the secret plot twist is the following - we decided that in some cases there are layers that touch a personal level that perhaps none of you could ever have guessed.

(Remember that Yuri and I work in a business where you can be the greatest actor in the world and kick ass at your audition - and then not get the part because you look too much like an ex of the director. But I digress!!!!)

Since you were all wonderful enough to provide a sentence stating your case, I think it only fair that we do the same in kind.

AXON
well obvious to any and all beekeepers - plus we felt that axon had a cool sound to it - like an action hero star.

SPDR
again, obvious ILB reference along with the irony of a bee being named "spider" -- and on a personal level - my dad calls me Spider.

Name, The Giant Bee
The entry that made me laugh out loud for a very long time. And apparently Yuri as well. We considered just giving it to Dorkmaster - but we promised you a vote and a vote you shall get.

Sting Pants
Sting Pants is a funny name too. Because bees don't wear pants but if they did - well those would be... stingpants. Plus - one of Yuri's nicknames is Pants - so it would be a nod to Yuri.

Bigby

Now here's where I get to wield my power over What I Think The Giant Bee Should Be Named.
I am changing this to Bill Bigby. Because I loved Bill Bixby in the Incredible Hulk and The Magician. He was a stand up dude. Yuri agrees with me. So if you are voting for this - you are voting for "Bill Bigby" and if you want a DVD you should start kissing Shad0's butt right now because I happen to know he has one...
